Dr. Robert Burke is the founder and director of Michigan Cosmetic Design. He served in the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Captain in the Air Training Command.
 
A multiple board-certified surgeon, he has a worldwide professional reputation as a surgeon, educator and journal editor. He is a Michigan State University Emeritus Clinical Professor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Facial Plastic Surgery.

His patients love his skills and the personal touch provided by him and his staff. Many of his patients have referred their family and friends. Patients and their families from around the world have traveled to Ann Arbor for his expertise.

Dr. Robert H. Burke completed two terms as Treasurer of the Executive Board of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery.

Dr. Burke was recognized for his decade of service as trustee, member of the executive board of directors, secretary, and two-term treasurer of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery at their annual meeting in San Diego February 11, 2017.

A regular contributor to the medical scientific literature and presenter at na/tional meetings. His original scientific studies on temperature changes and monitoring during laser assisted liposculpture in men and women to appear in the March 2012 and the March 2014  issues of the American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery. His research findings “Permanent tattoo removal using a Ruby laser with a unique oval beam for removal of resistant green and blue colors” (Astanza laser) were presented at the AACS annual scientific meeting in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

  • Researcher in Mentor and Allergen FDA post-approval silicone breast implant studies.
  • Principal investigator of IRB approved pilot study of the use of the cold Erconia laser for TMJ pain control.
